Busted...

From Linn: "Just busted out. UTG raised to 3200 and I three-bet to 7500 holding 66 (this guy typically folds to a re-raise). He just calls so I'm sure he doesn't have an overpair. Flop comes 678 all clubs. He leads out and I push for 50k. He calls with the AcKx. I'm all-in now but he is risking 90% of his stack. Of course a club hits on the river. The dream is over."

...is anybody out there?

Linn takes a day off...

Today is day 2 for the 1a and 1c players. Linn goes again tomorrow at noon. Some numbers: there were 6,521 players and 4,521 remain for an avg stack size of 45,554. With 87,500 Linn is in great shape! The top 693 finishes get paid so he has a ways to go. Rest up Linn and we'll be here to follow the action tomorrow...

Linn ends night as chip leader of his table!

Linn's final report of night: "Hand of the day....blinds 200/400...I'm in sb with 55...everyone folds to me, i raise  to 1200, bb calls, he is chip leader,,flop comes Q 5 4 with diamonds,  i check, he bets 1200,,,i raise to 3600, he re-raises me to 10,000, i re-reraise to 25,000,  he pushes all-in,  at that point i considered folding,  i said fuck it,  if i'm beat I'm beat, i call,.he turns over a flush draw,,lol!.. turn and river are blanks...I double up!  Then I won a few more hands,  ended the day with $87,000  and am the chip leader at my table.  Have a whole new table starting tuesday"

Linn is still going strong...

It's the end of round 4 and Linn has climbed to 45k.  That's good news as he is staying ahead of the chip average.  For each of the previous starting days an average of 38% get knocked out.  So, by the end of the night the average stack size is about 48k and Linn still has two hours to play.  Next update will probaby be tomorrow morning.  Go Linn!

Linn just checked in...

He reports being basically card dead for 2 levels now and has stayed just active enough to not lose ground.  He currently has 36,000 chips.  The players are on a 90 minute dinner break now and the next level is #4 which is 150/300/25.  Linn still has 120 big blinds so he's still in good shape.

Chad out in 13 th on a cooler...

Chad raised holding A9 on the button and got one customer. The flop was 987 and his opponent checked. Chad shoved and the villain snap called showing 987.

Round 2 report from Linn...

"the game has changed    enter two new villiams to the table.  Lots more 4  and 5 betting    I'm at $35,000.  lost to flush over flush. Been card dead for last two hours"

While we wait for more news from Linn...

... Chad is in the Oceans 11 deep stack today (10k starting stack, 30 min. Blinds). There were 155 players and Chad just made the money and still has 180k left.  Blinds r at 6000/12000

1 round down and Linn is up...

From Linn: "End of round one, I have $43,000 in chips   i had flush over flush; set over set; and broadway.    surprisingly mild table.  two people tried to control the table but they got shut down.   FYI: Jennifer filly is right behind me."

And they're off (part 2)....

Moments ago Phil Helmuth was joined by girl next door Holly Madison to announce "shuffle up and deal!".  Go Linn!!

Linn is all set to go...

And now, for the first time in Syndicate history, we have a SECOND runner set to start at the Main Event!  Our runner up this past season Linn H. is ready to go in day 1d today at noon.  Stay tuned as we track his run toward the November 9!

From Jonkey...

Tom is posting his updates on the Syndicate FaceBook page and I will copy the posts here when I am able to.  So if you have FB then keep an eye on that; and if you don't have FB, what are you waiting for?  Really, you're going to have to relent and give in eventually (just like I did)!

From Tom....

I'm off to Vegas. Lynn and I are on the same SW flight leaving at noon. I figure we will go register today when we get there. I play tomorrow, Lynn on Sunday. If we make it to day 2, we could line up a number of days here with posts!

Anyway, I will post my stack size and key hands every two hours while on break. On my facebook account I plan to post things I see and do in Vegas, so check out my facebook acct if you want to know what famous poker players I see!

Mike's run is over...

From middle position Mike moved in with KJ.  It folded to the BB who woke up holding AA.  No miracle this time as the board bricked out for Mike.  Congratultions to Mike on a great run - enjoy that beer!

Players are on a break right now

Level 9 starts in a bout 10 minutes.  This will be 150/300/75.  There are now 534 players left in the tournament.  With the average stack now at around 16,000 Mike is certainly feeling the pressure to chip up.  If he reads this and it makes him feel better, he has about 5000 more chips than Phil Helmuth

Mike p. Late break after level 8. @ 8200

This feels like the Internet. Every third hand is an all in.
Only me and seat 9 are left from level 3.
Made a brilliant play with q7. All in to be called by aa. I got up after a dry board runner runner qq to take it down!!!!!
Later got crippled again losing race with qq Villian has ak and spikes a.
Doubled up with kk vs 99 and been stealing like crazy.
@'8200 with 3/6 &75 antes.
2890 entries 534 left. Paying ~ 290

Mike catches a break!

With the blinds just up at 150/300/50 and only 1800 chips left, Mike shoves from UTG +1 he gets one caller who turns over AA (of course!!) and Mike shows the mighty Q7!  Flop is 229 followed by a Q on the turn and a miracle Q on the river! Mike now has a little over 7000 chips or 24 big blinds....

Mike p. Dinner break---- life support

~2500 entrants
~800 left.
I have been stealing like crazy.
Card dead ! In 2 levels only a AT as a reasonable hand.
Thankfully noone has called me.
At 2875 with blinds going to 150/300.
I am in the bb.

Mike's on a rollercoaster ride

Mike got down to 1200.  He shoved three times and got called the 3rd time and won: AJ vs. QJ.  Back up to 3600 chips.  They are nearing the end of level 5: 100/200.  Next up is level 6 which is 100/200/25

Today's player count

There were 2890 entrants today in event 45 and there are about 1300 players left.  Mike is one of them!

Kevin is out

Kevin never managed to get any momentum.  After some cooler type hands early this hand happened:
Kevin raised to $150 with T9 from the hijack.  The button made it 350 and Kevin called.  The board came 489 with two hearts.  Kevin checked and the villain bet 400.  Kevin shoves his remaining 900 and his opponent reluctantly calls with KhQh.  The turn is a non heart 9 but the river brings a heart and he is out.

Mike p end of level 2

End of break.
I was down to 1975.
Back up to just over 3600.
Very active table!

Kevin and Mike on the ropes early...

Starting stack was 3000 and Mike is at 2100 and Kevin is at 1200.  Kevin had JJ in position on a 8866 board and had to fold to a shove on the turn...  Time for a couple of double-ups!

And they're off!!

Kevin and Mike just started the Event at noon.  The levels are 1 hour long and the first break is at about 2PM.  We'll post updates here and on the facebook page when we have more info...

Mike P playing today @ noon. Event 45

Event 45
I got seat 1 which I hate but everything else is going well today.

I can't decide where to spend my bug $10 voucher on the break...

Kevin and Mike play today!!

Two of our playoff winners, Kevin and Mike, compete in Event #45 - $1,000 buyin NL Hold'em today.  Good luck boys!!

That's it for now....

Unfortunately this concludes phase one of the Syndicate campaign at the WSOP. P-man had the best run, almost making it to day 2. Everyone had a great time though and got some valuable poker experience. It was a lot of fun playing with and near almost every poker pro you ever heard of. Next up are Kevin and Mike later this month. Stay tuned...

Tom is done....

Tom is out. He never could get anyone to call his all-ins to double up nuntil the last hand when he shoved with A8.  K9 called and hit to knock our boy out.

Tom is still on it!

He has 1800 chips with blinds going to 100/200. Time to double up!!!

Pman runs into the bully with the monster

I am out. Action was getting heavy as we neared the end of level 9 at about midnight after starting at noon. I had gotten up to 20k which was about average when I ran against a few big hands. I raised 3 times in the last couple levels only to be re-raised EACH time by the big stack to my left. I was dwindling while the average was about 21k.

With about 10k left and blinds at 300/600 with 75 ante I had AQ in late position and made it 2200 behind an early limper. The bully on my left re-raised AGAIN to 6500 and I took a stand and went all in. Of course he had AA...and I am out.

I did what I could, but I was definitely on borrowed time after doubliing up a couple levels earlier on a massive suck out.

Cash games have been good, and I will head back to the Venetian tomorrow for a Deep Stack tourny.
Pman out$

P-man is still cruising...

And we're back: Paul is at the average of about 18k.  Blinds are 300/600/75. 680 players left. $$ is at 320 this was largest $1500 WSOP tourney ever.

Pman update after level 8. 2 levels to go to make day 2.

Phil Helmuth is heads up with John Juanda at snother table for a bracelet. Eric Lindgen and Kara Scott are at next table. Fortunately she is in my direct eyeline(sorry babe, but she's cute).

770 left from 3160. Avg stack is 18k...and I JUST doubled up to 18k on the LAST hand before the break. I'm grinding, playing very well, and hanging in. Just gotta keep the focus. 2 levels to go to make day 2.

Pman beginning level 7

1150 left out of initial 3160. I won a nice pot to start the level. Back to almost 17k. Chip avg is probably 11k.

Pman. Dinner break update.

Just under 3200 players...announced as the largest $1500 buy in event the WSOP has ever had. 1/2 the field is gone and I am sitting on about 13k in chips(avg is probably 8k).

I had a nice start when I moved tables after level 4. I quickly and skillfully put a guy all in pre flop with JJ against his QQ. The skill part comes in when I hit a 4th club on the river to 4flush him. Oooooops. But I'll take it.

Raised with 64ss on another hand. Flopped a flush draw and played it strong. Hit the flush and got paid by a straight on the river.

Stole a few, lost a few, donked a couple, then won a nice pot near dinner break when I turned a boat with my favorite hand(99).

Headed to room for 90 min dinner break for some grub and a lil chill.

Wish mr luck. 4 more levels before day 2.

Mark back to 10k!

Mark is about 7000

P-man is up over 17k now!

Pman. End of 4th level.

Over 3100 entrants. I'm up over 7000 from starting stack of 4500. Flopped a set of dueces, slow played em and stacked AA.

Then flopped nuts with A10ss and won a nice pot.

Lost a 6k pot when my AQ ran up against AK. oh well. Staying patient and aggressive when I can be.
P

Welcome to the SD Syndicate 2011 WSOP Run

Some of  the Syndicate WSOP players may be updating their tournament progress here.  Our main update site will be our FaceBook page at The San Diego Syndicate: Poker but there will be action here as well.  It turns out that not everyone has a FaceBook page so we needed another source for updates.

We'll try to "cross-update" from FaceBook to Blogspot and vicey-versey when we can.
